A 5* Game Lodge situated on a Big 5 Reserve not far from Hoedspruit.

Job Description

  • Providing an interpretive safari experience on game drive and / or walks daily;
  • Hosting the guests for the duration of their stay at the lodge;
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of guests while on safari;
  • Coordination extra quests activities on the reserve;
  • Safari experience / activities for children – kiddies drive, fishing and other specific activities that form part of our children’s program at the lodge;
  • Assisting with transfers of guests/staff;


Minimum 3 years guiding experience in a Big 5 reserve with in a similar lodge environment. FGASA level 1/2 qualification. Full Trails guide or back up guide qualification – advantage. SASSETA certificate. Valid PDP. Valid Code 08 Drivers’ License. DEAT registered. THETA registered. First Aid level 1/2/3. Rifle competency. Advanced Rifle Handling (ARH).


Personality: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (listening skills, verbal communication etc); Positive attitude, Self-motivated, Confident; Sense of humour; Specific Job Skills: Strong guest focus to ensure guest expectations are exceeded; Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines; Flexibility – adapt successfully to changing situations and environments; Attention to detail; Sense of adventure; High energy levels & drive to get things done; Planning & organizing – plan activities and carry them through effectively; Excellent driving skills; An appreciation of other cultures. Ability to speak and/or understand another language would be an advantage; Computer Skills. Computer literate. Literacy and Numeracy. Fluent in English (speak, read and write); Excellent literacy skills (writing of emails, viewing web pages); Team Player Ability. Flexibility; Strong time-management skills; Demonstrable team member qualities;


Monthly package- negotiable depending on experience and qualifications; Live-in position with meals on duty; Pension fund; Staff Nights;     Work cycle – 21 days – 7 days off; Annual leave – 15 days; Tips. A Couple will be considered if partner is either an Executive Housekeeper or Beverage Cost Controller. Regret no Children or Pets can be accommodated.
