A growing Hotel group is seeking a Housekeeping Manager for their 4 star hotel in Sea Point.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the overall running of the housekeeping department and supervising of staff
  • Co-ordinate rosters of the housekeeping team
  • Assign employees their duties and inspect work for conformance to prescribed standard of cleanliness
  • Assist room attendants in the cleaning of the rooms and public areas
  • Keeping record of inventories, stock to ensure adequate supplies
  • Do regular room checks for cleanliness and state of repairs
  • Report maintenance issues using the “Maintenance Log” and action
  • Responsible for all stock takes, stock variances and condemned items
  • Make timely and sound decisions with regards to appropriate course of action
  • Conduct training on room types, categories and amenities
  • Conduct departmental briefings
  • Manage and address issues relating to performance, deal with ill-discipline
  • Consistently recognize good performance
  • Establish open, trusting and caring relationships
  • Ensure associates understand and exceed customer expectations
  • Understand and focus on the key drivers of sales, associate and customer satisfaction, profitability and quality
  • Set performance against best benchmarks

Minimum criteria:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Good verbal and written abilities
  • Complete focus upon operational standards and deliverance throughout all aspects of the hotel
  • Complete focus upon stock controls
  • Complete focus upon safety, health and hygiene
  • Ability to anticipate customers needs and execute immediately
  • Ability to accept personal responsibility and accountability for the Rooms Division
  • Calm and reassuring, commands a presence
  • Ability to delegate and empower others
  • Ability to co-ordinate work efforts and monitor progress to achieve the desired results in timely fashion
  • Ability to create enthusiasm and a desire to excel
