POSITION OVERVIEW:

Safari JOBS is searching for a hospitality experienced, hands-on Resident Manager/ess for a lovely, luxurious 3* self-catering property in Limpopo. The property is situated in close proximity of South Africa’s beautiful Kruger National Park so both foreign and local Guests stay at this establishment. The Manager will oversee and be responsible for the property, Guests and nine staff members. Please note that this is not a safari lodge type property but is based in a bush type environment.

The purpose of the job is to ensure and maintain all the operations, structure and environmental aspects of the property as a whole to acceptable standards by ensuring guests satisfaction and provide life span of the property’s infrastructure, including grounds and gardens. To ensure that the all maintenance of the property is maintained in accordance with the set, satisfactory and acceptable standards laid down in the company’s policy.

The Resident Manager reports to the General Manager based at another property within the company’s portfolio.

KEY FOCUS AREAS INCLUDE:

  • Management of maintenance, grounds and garden staff;
  • Guest interaction, and attend to & handle Guests complaints;
  • Liaise with clients and suppliers;
  • Maintain hygienic standard of the property;
  • Filing and other related administration work;
  • Preparing budget;
  • Assist with the setting and implementation of the minimum standards;
  • Play an active role in property’s marketing plan;
  • Responsible for health and safety;
  • Fire risk;
  • Attend to maintenance issues;
  • Responsible for disciplinary including counselling hearings;
  • Ensure that necessary training gets implemented;
  • Room checks

 

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST be able to speak and write in both Afrikaans & English – unfortunatley not negotiable;
  • Matric / senior certificate;
  • South African Citizen;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • (Candidate’s with bigger property experience from small hotels, resorts, upmarket caravan / camping type properties will have a strong advantage);
  • Diploma in Hotel Management / a similar / related qualification (Strong advantage);
  • Driver’s licence and own vehicle (company vehicle provided for work purposes);
  • Computer literate in MS Office;
  • Hospitality administration and financial experience – Very NB;
  • Accpac knowledge (strong advantage)

PACKAGE / BENEFITS:       

(Dependent on experience, skills, qualifications & suitability)

  • Gross basic salary of R15 – R16, 000.00 per month with a potential review after initial 3 month period;
  • Staff housing / accommodation (minimal contribution by Candidate towards water and lights);
  • Uniform;
  • Discovery Medical aid contribution (mandatory);
  • Retirement fund contribution 7,5% company & 7,5% staff member (mandatory);
  • Funeral policy contribution (mandatory – minimal);
  • Thirteenth cheque in December as per company policy;

WORK / LEAVE CYCLE:

  • 21 days on / 7 days off per month

(No set roster specifically - the company is flexible as long as things at the property are in order and the relevant staff is in place to assist Guests in the Manager’s absence. Reception is open from 07h00 – 18h00 and there is a front of house team that works various shifts. Security generally assists with late arrivals. Manager is on standby for emergencies);

  • 21 annual leave days
